The love for old school music is deeply rooted in the culture of Capetonians, and thus Kinky Afro was created as a 30 minute on air feature on Good Hope FM’s Nigel Pierce Show, showcasing the best of the 80’s and 90’s music.

Following the success of the feature, the Kinky Afro party was launched 12 years ago at the time honoured West End club. From it’s launch, the event the grew in stature and became synonymous with not to be missed sold out event of the year. The party attracted dancer-lovers young and youthful, and in 2010 attracted a record 8,000 party revellers at the CTICC – The first for an all-local party at this venue.
